ALOPEK a Consumer Electronics Show (CES) success Deerfield Beach, Florida
January 14, 2009
Alopek had a very successful showing at the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) which was held in Las Vegas, NV. from January 8th through January 12th. Although attendance was down from previous shows, Alopek was able to demonstrate its second generation vehicle tracking unit to a substantial number of potential customers, both domestic and international. Alopek’s new tracking unit not only provides real time tracking at 30 second intervals and provides its standard speed alerts and safety zones, but has added the following features:
- The use of a key fob when pressed to lock the car provides a safety zone around the car. If the car is moved or the windows or trunk tampered with an immediate alert is sent to the owner via text message and email.
- Using the same key fob, when the car is unlocked the safety zone is automatically removed.
- The new unit has a back-up battery that if the vehicle loses power the back-up battery will continue operating the tracking unit for a period of 72 hours.
- A data logger has been added to the unit, so that if the vehicle is out of GPS range the data logger will record any alerts and immediately send an alert once the vehicle is back within range.
- The new unit has a vehicle maintenance option which will provide the owner with maintenance alerts as to oil changes, tire rotation and belt replacement.
In addition to the response to the new vehicle tracking unit, there was a tremendous amount of interest in Alopek’s container tracking unit both for dry and refrigerated containers. Upon a cursory review of the competition it appeared that Alopek was the only exhibitor that featured a unit of this type and was the only company in it’s field that presented new features on its vehicle tracking unit.
George Playton, president of Alopek, stated that he was extremely gratified by the amount of interest in the Alopek product line and believes that even though attendance was lower than in previous years, that the response to Alopek and it’s products should result in significant orders in the near future.
